When UK Garage spread over from the UK to The Netherlands in the late 90s Flow State a.k.a. Michael Pieterse immediately fell in love with the bass heavy and energetic sound of the genre. Around that time especially Speed Garage was a very popular sound that even made into the charts and also heavily influenced the Dutch club sound.

Even though he loved UK Garage, Flow State wasn't focused on the genre as a DJ yet. Mainly because he didn't have many friends who were into the genre and wasn't well connected to the Dutch scene representing it in those years. Also he was playing different styles under different aliases back then. After the big hype in the late 90s and early 00s, the Dutch garage died as quickly as it came up.

Fast forward to 2022. The actual birth of the Michael Pieterse's new alias Flow State. To keep things clear and distinct Michael decided to start a new alias strictly for UK Garage and everything within its spectrum. More news soon...
